Welcome to Grove Cottage
Grove Cottage is the home of Bishop's Stortford Mencap
Grove Cottage provides social and educational activities for people of all ages with learning disability: to develop their potential, avoid social isolation by supporting lifelong friendships and; to provide respite for their families.
What we do
Grove Cottage was set up in 1966 by a group of parents to provide lifelong support for their children; to offer a safe environment to engage in a variety of activities to maximise each individuals potential.
We run the following clubs giving support and help from 3 months to 80+ years.
- Special Needs Nursery
- Stay and Play Group
- Saturday Clubs
- School Holiday Clubs
- Youth Club
- Adult Social Clubs
- Performing Arts Club
- Get Active Club
- Speech and Language Therapy Programme
WE ARE PROUD TO BE CELEBRATING OUR 50th ANNIVERSARY IN 2016
It costs over £250,000 per year to run Grove Cottage.
We do not receive any funding from Mencap and we could not exist without the support of the local community.
Thank you to everyone who has supported Grove Cottage over the last 50 years. We are looking forward to the next 50!
The Future Looks Exciting
The future looks very exciting for Grove Cottage. We have listened to our members, their families, staff, volunteers and supporters and we have plans to grow and deliver more of our current services, plus new ones.
We are bursting at the seams at 151 London Road and are looking for a new building.
This all costs money and we need your help.
