2.6 Challengers raise over £1,000 for Grove Cottage!

We would like to say a huge well done and thank you to all those who took part in, or donated to, our 2.6 Challenge on 26th April 2020 which has raised over £1,000 for Grove Cottage.

This national event was set up as a result of the cancellation of the London Marathon which was due to take place on 26th April and encouraged people to take part in any event as long as it featured the number 26 – the marathon distance in miles.

One of our members, 12-year-old Ruth Macfarlane, who has Down’s Syndrome, completed a 2.62km walk from her home in Thorley Park, with her 14-year-old brother Matthew enlisted to set the pace.

Ruth, who attends the Saturday Club at Grove Cottage has so far raised an amazing £876, plus Gift Aid for Grove Cottage. People can still donate to her Virgin Money Giving page here:

Two of our supporters who are keen walkers – Su Blacham and Kev Hall also walked 26km along the Flitch Way and have raised over £400, which is brilliant. People can still donate to their Virgin Money Giving page here:

Thanks also to everyone who supported Ruth and Su and Kev, it is very much appreciated during these difficult times.
