In 2016 Grove Cottage partnered with Thirst Youth Café on South Street and we set up our own café at their premises.
Grove Cottage @ Thirst Youth Café offers a safe, friendly, welcoming place for young adults with learning disabilities to go during the day. It’s a great way for young adults to meet their friends regularly.
Thirst Youth Café has a PlayStation, snooker table, a TV, plenty of board games, a CD player and comfy seats for those who just want to sit and chat over lunch or a coffee.
We also offer voluntary and training opportunities for young people with learning disabilities – Grove Cottage staff are on hand to train our members in all aspects of running the café, including:
We also offer Life Skills training sessions at the café.
Become a ‘Friend of Thirst Café’ for £30 per term to receive a discount on food and free entry into a monthly raffle. Anyone with a query about this club should contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
It is very important for me to see my mates. Thirst is a nice place for us to get together. Grove Cottage is very nice with nice staff. I’m very happy. I’d recommend volunteering at the café all day long.
Grove Cottage aims to be a fully inclusive organisation and is committed to supporting people through financial hardship. We can therefore, on a case by case basis, subsidise the cost of our services. If you would like to speak to our Operations Manager confidentially about this please email email@example.com.
