About Us

Grove Cottage is the home of Mencap in Bishop’s Stortford and provides social and educational activities for people of all ages with a learning disability.

Grove Cottage has an open-door policy and will support people regardless of location, if you can get to us then we are delighted to help you.

Our Mission: To provide social and educational activities for people of all ages with learning disabilities and special additional needs; to help them develop their potential, avoid social isolation by supporting lifelong friendships, and to provide respite for their families.

Our Vision: A world in which every individual has the opportunity to learn, develop, integrate into society and exercise choices, and where families can enjoy a regular family life.

Value Statement: Grove Cottage is a professional, passionate community, enriching lives and giving those who learn differently the opportunity to achieve their potential.

Grove Cottage is a registered charity managed by a board of Trustees with a wealth of experience of special needs and education.

Grove Cottage is affiliated with The Royal Mencap Society but is run independently and receives no funding from the national body.

We run all our clubs with a mix of part time staff and volunteers. Without their amazing dedication and commitment, Grove Cottage would not exist.
