Team Member Positions at Grove Cottage

We are currently recruiting for Saturday, Bank, and Holiday Club staff, as well as Grove Grows Gardening Club staff.

Job Title: Deputy Club Leader, Grove Grows

Reporting to: Club Leader

Company: Grove Cottage – The home of Bishop’s Stortford Mencap

A fantastic opportunity to for a keen gardener to use their experience and expertise to support adults with a learning disabilities develop their confidence and skills in our weekly gardening club.

Main Purpose of Role

  • To ensure effective, professional delivery of Grove Cottage Club activities
  • Provision of high quality respite

Key Objectives

  • To ensure a high level of service delivered by Grove Cottage clubs
  • Be flexible and approachable to ensure all organisational needs met
  • Positive role model for staff, volunteers and members
  • Support Club Leader

Key Tasks

  • To deliver Grove Cottage clubs professionally and effectively

General Duties

Management and delivery of club to include:

  • Delivery of best possible service for our members and ensuring a safe, secure, fun, welcoming environment.
  • To assist as necessary with the planning of club activities to best suit Members requirements
  • To lead clubs as required in the Club Leaders absence
  • To assist with the management of staff and volunteers including training and updating rotas to maximise member support available
  • Ensure policy compliance and meeting legislative requirements
  • Responsible for the Safeguarding of members, staff and volunteers

Club Admin:

  • Ensure relevant information is updated on Office 365 on time and accurately including registers to facilitate invoicing and wages
  • Update Grove Cottage database as necessary
  • Complete health and safety documentation in line with policy

To support Operations and Fundraising teams as required.

Working hours:

  • 5 hours a week to be worked over two days – Tuesday mornings from 9.00am-12pm plus 2 additional hours a week to be arranged to attend to and water the allotments.
  • Start date immediate.

Experience Required:

  • Experience working with adults with SEN (Special Educational Needs) desirable.

Compensation

  • Hourly rate: £12.20 plus holiday pay.

  • Provide high-quality respite care.

Key Objectives

  • Deliver a high level of service at Grove Cottage clubs.
  • Be flexible and approachable to meet all organizational needs.
  • Serve as a positive role model for staff, volunteers, and members.
  • Assist the Club and Deputy Leaders during absences.

Key Tasks

  • Professionally and effectively deliver Grove Cottage club activities.

General Duties

Delivery of club to include:

  • Deliver activities for members.
  • Use activities to aid in members’ social and emotional development.
  • Set up equipment and ensure safe areas.
  • Liaise with parents or carers.
  • Prepare snacks for members.
  • Support members in the community and assist on outings/day trips.
  • Ensure compliance with policies and legislative requirements.
  • Work within Ofsted guidelines (for children’s services).
  • Communicate information professionally to members and families.
  • Maintain a safe and welcoming environment for members.
  • Complete online and face-to-face training as required.
  • Access queries on the Grove Cottage database.
  • Attend meetings as required.

Working hours:

  • 9:30 am – 2:30 pm, various contracted shifts available.

Experience Required:

  • Experience working with children with SEN (Special Educational Needs) essential.
    Level 3 Early Years qualification desirable.

Compensation

  • Hourly rate: £11.44 plus holiday pay.
