Learning Disability Week 2024
My name is Syd, and I am 21 years old. This Learning Disability Week, I want to share some exciting news from Grove Cottage, the charity that has profoundly impacted my life and my family’s lives.
I’ve been attending Grove Cottage since I was 2. It’s where I’ve made friends, gained confidence, and had amazing opportunities, like performing at the Royal Albert Hall. It means everything to me and my family.
My mum, Maria, agrees that Grove Cottage has been a lifeline for us, providing support, respite, and a loving community. Their amazing staff and volunteers have become part of our family.
Grove Cottage is creating A Better Building for a Brighter Future:
We are excited about the rebuilding of Grove Cottage’s home on London Road, as it will be more accessible for me. With this rebuild, we’ll know that I will always be able to access their clubs and services throughout my lifetime. We can’t imagine our lives without Grove Cottage.
You can help Grove Cottage continue to be a beacon of hope and support for families like ours. Here’s how you can get involved:
How You Can Help:
- Donate: Every contribution, no matter how small, brings us closer to our goal.
- Fundraise: Organise community events, sponsored activities, or personal challenges.
- Volunteer: Give your time and skills to help us in this transformative project.
- Spread the Word: Share our vision with friends, family, and on social media.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support. With your help, we can continue to make a difference in the lives of individuals with learning disabilities and their families.
With heartfelt gratitude, Syd and Maria
