Members of The Bishop’s Stortford and Stansted Round Table visited Grove Cottage’s Wednesday evening Adult Social Club last week to present a cheque for £4,500 which was raised from donations from their Santa Sleigh collections back in November/December 2018.
The team of volunteers took to the streets of Bishop’s Stortford and Stansted armed with buckets and smiles, and of course Santa and his sleigh, to collect for both Grove Cottage and the Helen Rollason Cancer Charity. All in all the team walked the streets of Bishop’s Stortford over 6 evenings and covered Bishop’s Park, Thorley, Parsonage Estate, St Michael’s Mead and Chantry areas.
Rosie Wren, Fundraising Manager at Grove Cottage said, “We are extremely grateful to The Bishop’s Stortford and Stansted Round Table and the team of volunteers who made this possible, as well as to everyone who kindly donated money to the Santa Sleigh.
“Every penny raised will help Grove Cottage to continue to fund Clubs and activities for people of all ages with learning disabilities and to provide respite for their families and carers. Without support like this from our local community we would not be able to provide these vital services, thank you so much.”
Phil Street from the Bishop’s Stortford and Stansted Round Table said: “We were delighted to be able to present this cheque to Grove Cottage and meet some of the members, staff and volunteers at the Grove Cottage Adult Social Club. It’s always great to see at first hand where the money is making the difference.”
