Grove Cottage @ Thirst Youth Café

Grove Cottage @ Thirst Youth Café is open Wednesdays and Thursdays, 10am-2pm, during term time. Our Café Club is located in Bishop’s Stortford Town Centre (CM23 3AZ) and is open to the public. It is run by Grove Cottage staff and member volunteers.

(Unfortunately this Club is not currently running due to Covid Restrictions)

In 2016 Grove Cottage partnered with Thirst Youth Café on South Street and we set up our own café at their premises.

Grove Cottage @ Thirst Youth Café offers a safe, friendly, welcoming place for young adults with learning disabilities to go during the day. It’s a great way for young adults to meet their friends regularly.

Thirst Youth Café has a PlayStation, snooker table, a TV, plenty of board games, a CD player and comfy seats for those who just want to sit and chat over lunch or a coffee.

We also offer voluntary and training opportunities for young people with learning disabilities – Grove Cottage staff are on hand to train our members in all aspects of running the café, including:

It is very important for me to see my mates. Thirst is a nice place for us to get together. Grove Cottage is very nice with nice staff. I’m very happy. I’d recommend volunteering at the café all day long.

Grove Cottage aims to be a fully inclusive organisation and is committed to supporting people through financial hardship.
