Mark Saunders, widely known as The Light Ranger, has once again transformed the streets of Bishops Stortford and surrounding areas into a dazzling display of holiday cheer with his light-covered pick-up truck. The annual spectacle, a true community favourite, aims to bring joy to residents while raising funds for the local charity, Grove Cottage.
Mark, the creative mind behind The Light Ranger, expressed his enthusiasm for spreading Christmas cheer, stating, “I bring out ‘The Light Ranger’ every year around Bishops Stortford and surrounding areas purely to put a smile on people’s faces and bring a bit of Christmas cheer, and it also gives me a chance to raise some money for the charity Grove Cottage.”
“Grove Cottage is a charity that provides vital support to people of all ages with learning disabilities and special additional needs. While based in Bishops Stortford, Grove Cottage extends its support to individuals regardless of their location.”
Mark’s festive journey isn’t limited to Bishops Stortford alone; he has also been touring requested streets in Buntingford and wherever else he needs to go, all in the spirit of spreading joy and reaching his Just Giving target. The Light Ranger, adorned with an impressive 12,000 lights, took Mark two days to meticulously install, and all the lights are powered directly from the vehicle’s engine.
In a heartwarming gesture, members of Grove Cottage were treated to a special visit from The Light Ranger during their Saturday Club Christmas party. The visit provided an opportunity for members to interact with Mark, ask questions about the spectacular vehicle, and enjoy the enchanting lights.
