A Better Building for a Brighter Future

We’ve outgrown our Grove Cottage home on London Road which has welcomed many families since opening it’s doors in 1966.  Our home is now woefully inadequate for the services we provide and will not meet future demand.  A shortage of facilities and services for complex learning and special educational needs persists along with a growing local demand, which has intensified pressure on our building. It can no longer adapt to accommodate the increasing members and services, rendering it unfit for purpose and inadequate for current and future needs.

We want to create a better building, to help those with learning disabilities and special additional needs of all ages, to have a brighter future.  We have a wonderful legacy from The Crabb Family who first set up Grove Cottage, and a handful of grants and donations including a £50,000 grant from the London Stansted Airport Community Fund.

Garry Le Count, chair of the London Stansted Community Fund, said: “We are thrilled to announce Grove Cottage as the first community flagship award winner.  Aside from their amazing work supporting people with learning disabilities, their application showed their commitment to preserving the environment with solar panels and a heat pump planned for their new headquarters, which the fund strongly supports.”  Gareth Powell, Stansted Airport’s managing director, said: “It is an absolute pleasure to hand over the fund’s first flagship award of £50,000 to Grove Cottage”

You can make a huge difference to the lives of people with a learning disability and the wider community, for example:

  • A financial gift could fund a specific room or project element, or contribute towards the overall project costs
  • You may be able to offer gifts-in-kind, such as materials, time, or expertise
  • You could connect us with people you know who could offer their support

With your help, we can shape futures, change lives and enable those who attend Grove Cottage to reach their full potential.
