Holiday Clubs

Our Holiday Clubs are held during school holidays and offer fun activities for children and young people between 5 and 25 who have a learning disability.

Our Holiday Clubs enable our younger members to meet and make friends, have fun and enjoy new experiences. We provide a range of clubs to suit all ages and abilities. Some sessions like sensory play, baking and arts and crafts are held at Grove Cottage, but we also organise trips to places such as soft play, trampolining, Hatfield Forest and fun meals out.

We know how challenging school holidays can be for parents who need to juggle work, childcare and keeping their children stimulated and happy. Grove Cottage’s Holiday Clubs offer affordable, high quality childcare for children and young people with learning disabilities, whilst also providing much needed respite for families.

Our holiday clubs help our young members to:

  • Develop their social skills and to meet and make friends
  • Feel more independent
  • Learn new things, maybe start a new hobby or discover something new they’re good at
  • Feel more confident in a group and being out in the community
  • Have fun and feel happier

All of our Holiday Clubs are charged at £5 per hour and sessions are invoiced in advance. To find out more about attending one of our Holiday Clubs please email Freya at holidays@mencapgrovecottage.org

We get a much- needed break, made even better knowing R loves being at Holiday Club. It gives us a chance to spend time with our other children and do things that are more difficult with R. R loves attending Grove Cottage – she looks forward to coming and counts down her sleeps!

Stay and Play Sessions

We run Stay and Play sessions for our members aged five years and under during the school holidays. Parents are welcome to come to Grove Cottage to stay and play with their children and catch up with other parents. The sessions will be run be a qualified member of staff. The session is free however we do ask for a voluntary contribution towards tea and biscuits. For Further information on our Stay and Play sessions please contact om@mencapgrovecottage.org.

Grove Cottage aims to be a fully inclusive organisation and is committed to supporting people through financial hardship. We can therefore, on a case by case basis, subsidise the cost of our services. If you would like to speak to our Operations Manager confidentially about this please email om@mencapgrovecottage.org.
